My carpet is only on the stairs and upper floor — is that a normal job for you?

Normal here. A lot of Hermosa places, especially the townhomes and duplexes built from the 1980s onward, have tile or hardwood at street level and carpet starting at the stairs. Stairs take the worst of it because every bit of sand tracked in from the strand gets ground into the treads and the nosings. We clean stairs as their own item rather than treating them as leftover square footage, and we work the edges and corners by hand since that's where the fine sand collects.

Why does the back bedroom smell musty even after the carpet's been cleaned?

That's the marine air combined with how tightly the newer townhomes are built. A closed room a few blocks off the beach holds damp with almost no airflow through it, and if a carpet was left too wet after a previous cleaning, the odor sets into the backing and pad rather than the fiber. We use as little moisture as the soil level allows, extract heavily, and set air movers where the room has no cross-breeze. Opening interior doors and running the fan for the rest of the day helps.

Can you get out beer and wine spots from a party?

Usually, and it's one of the most common calls we get from the shared rentals near the strand. Beer mostly leaves an odor and a sticky residue that re-attracts sand. Wine and food are pigment problems. Fresh spots come out far more reliably than ones that have been walked on for a month, so call sooner rather than later. If a spill soaked through to the pad, we'll tell you straight whether cleaning will fix it or whether that section needs replacing.

How soon can you come out, and do you do same-day?

Same-day is often possible, particularly for a single room, a stairway, or a spot job. Hermosa is compact, so once we're in the area we can usually fit something in. Full-unit cleanings and turnovers are better booked ahead. Parking is the honest limitation. On the small lots close to the beach there's often no driveway, so tell us when you book what parking looks like at your address so we can plan the hose run.
